She's quite short vertically... but quite tall horizontally. If anything, she can take quite a few blows, and also eat her weight in potatoes.

❖ Personality: 

Aelia is cheerful, outgoing, supporting, and never! Without! Energy! It's difficult to see her without her characteristic smile. Her temper is always kept, and her patience for others is unending. Laid-back, sociable, and perpetually good-natured, she always has an ear for her peers. But she enjoys the company of others almost as much as she enjoys no company at all: she has a tendency to introspection, and cherishes her privacy. She can be as distant as she is affable, but she will still doubtlessly treats her friends with affection. Perhaps her greatest quality is her tenacity: she meets obstacles with decisiveness and infinite perseverance.

Her constant positive attitude is ever-present, but not always genuine. Despite her boundless fortitude and conviction, she doesn't forge forward out of naïveté. Her selflessness is calculated, and her kind disposition is carefully designed - she is without question a loving and generous friend, but has a cruel streak for those that hurt others senselessly. Even with her habitual kindness, she can become quite ruthless when she deems it necessary, although she is never unforgiving.

She is usually quite perceptive - but she's never above acting otherwise. Sometimes, she finds acting ignorant to be the easiest way to simplify a situation. It is rare she always says what she thinks - but even with her penchant for white lies, when it counts, she means what she says.

Regardless of her tendency to half-truths, at least she still makes for a loyal friend. Her dishonestly is seldom malicious, and she always means to do the best for the ones she cares about. (After all, they say the road to hell is paved with good intentions?).

She likes to dote - perhaps an aftereffect of being the elder sister to her twin brother, Loys (by eight minutes. It matters! She's the older one!). Sometimes it can be pretty stifling.

❖ History: Her father, a shipbuilder, met her mother while on voyage - and although their marriage was a happy one, the same couldn't be said for the prying eyes of his family. A woman with little of a past and even less obedience was not well-received, and it would be wrong to say they felt this way without propriety. Aelia's mother was reckless and maybe even wild: and giving birth to twin changelings in their superstitious seaport town only served to further bolster the case. She was pulled under the water while the family was out at sea, and while Aelia and her brother were rescued, their mother was less fortunate. The body washed ashore three days later. Perhaps for the in-laws of Aelia's mother, after the loss of someone so problematic, there was an unspoken feeling of relief.

Although Aelia was not impassive, she met the news with what might have been unsettling silence for a girl only four years of age. Their father, grief-stricken, refused to take another wife - so care for her brother and herself was provided by ever-changing hired help. Their childhood was consequently devoid of discipline: after all, they rarely felt scoldings from the newest nanny held much significance anyways. It felt only natural for the siblings to confine themselves to each other, then. For the majority of their childhood, they took little interest in a social network much larger than the other twin.

As they grew older, Loys took well to learning - and Aelia, talentless for such education, more easily took to the sword. She also easily took to brawling, violence, and rolling in the mud: and after one too many incidents of Aelia returning home having broken a bone (her own or someone else's), her father realized he had given her a bit more freedom than was healthy. She was promptly and apologetically sent away to finishing school, a fate she begrudgingly accepted (after all, thanks to her, Papa had grown enough white hairs from stress that they feared he might get an ulcer).

There, she learned how to be a lady! - somewhat. Even with strict education, she stayed relatively unpolished - and after being held there much longer than the usual (yes - she failed every etiquette class humanly possible), she very quietly (loudly, with some fanfare) showed herself out the door. There were greater frontiers to seek out, anyways (she missed her brother). And what frontier could she find that would be better than hunting for a little treasure?

Currently, she waitresses at a small tavern for some spare spending money - but she'll drop her apron at any time if she catches a whiff of a new adventure!

• Loys Albrecht: She's the older one. If you ask them which one's older, Aelia will say "me", and Loys will say something along the lines of "We're twins, the same age, eight minutes, she only got pulled out of the womb quicker, it doesn't matter-"

❖ Additional:

• Their family lives on a set of lovely, picturesque, seaside cliffs. Aelia's favorite part of the home is the way mud piles up in the garden after it rains, because it makes for a perfect playground slide.
• She addresses her mother's death quite casually. She was a nice lady, probably. But to be fair, they were also four. 
• She knows Loys uses their mother as a sob story for his... romantic pursuits. Also, their status as changelings... also, the fact that she went to finishing school... also, that cut he got on his finger last week...
• She's a bit absent-minded. She gets lost easily, because she rarely pays attention.
• Athletic! She loves to run.
• She loves mornings.
• She worries about her weight frequently, but she still eats a wagon's worth of food anyway ([with mouth full of fried potato] "how did i get so fat").
• Generally cool-headed. High mental and physical fortitude!
• She loves home-cooked meals - particularly, the ones Loys makes (THIS IS WHY SHE'S GOT A MUFFIN TOP-). She can cook decently, but not well.
• And to that note, she doesn't really do many things well - just averagely. She doesn't have many hobbies or talents, but she does like to garden.
